COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Of the 255 islands in the Anambas cluster, only 26 are inhabited with an approximate population of 45,500.

The people of the Anambas Islands have relied on the ocean for their livelihoods for generations. However, the lack of a proper waste management system means residents often dump their waste into the ocean, causing further damage to the marine ecosystem.

In an effort to rehabilitate and conserve underwater life, the Anambas Foundation has developed several community development programs. These initiatives not only educate the communities but also offer alternative sources of income, aiming to reduce their dependence on the ocean.
